Chronic stress can show on your face. The hormone that your body releases when you feel stress, Cortisol, causes changes to the proteins in your skin which reduce its elasticity. This loss of elasticity can contribute to wrinkle formation and is compounded by stress impacting the skin’s ability to retain water, it impairs the stratum corneum’s barrier function leading to dehydration.
