The forbidden love of two characters meeting in a New York apartment. A fragrance that ignites the senses with its intoxicating opening blend of ginger, cardamom, clovebuds and cinnamon and saffron. The cocktail of spices merge with a floral heart of rose, touched with a subtle sweetness of honey that bring delicacy. A deep smoky blend of Chinese cedarwood, tobacco and benzoin round off this alluring scent.
Addictive and smoky, the scent is inspired by a page taken from the novel ‘An Age of Innocence’.

- Staccato is inspired by a passage of text in ‘The Age of Innocence’ by Edith Wharton. One page was the only thing given to perfumer Karine Vinchon Spehner as the brief for the fragrance to be created. The passage describes the 2 main characters meeting in her apartment and despite his engagement to another woman, there is an attraction. So the scent is about a forbidden love, and Karine searched for something between politeness and desire. So the honey is here to speak of the sweetness of the sentiment, yet there were many spices used which symbolise the attraction and also to evoke the far off bazaar. The Chinese cedarwood is used for its smoky quality and tobacco, to remind us of the coffee and the fireplace Ambergris is also mentioned in the book, so, we used a representation of ambergris subtlety in the fragrance, and it helps to bring a subtle classic modernity that speaks to the period.
- All Miller Harris products are free from phthalates, artificial colorants, parabens and formaldehydes. We use high levels of natural raw materials.
Key notes:
- CHINESE CEDARWOOD: Chinese cedarwood as a fragrance note imparts a rich, woody aroma with deep, earthy undertones, hints of spice, and a subtle, resinous sweetness reminiscent of warm forests.
- ROSE: Rose intertwines soft, velvety petals with subtle green undertones and a hint of sweet, intoxicating depth.
- GINGER: Ginger as a fragrance note delivers a zesty, spicy aroma with a warm, invigorating kick, balancing sharp citrus undertones with a subtle, earthy sweetness.
Apply the perfume to your "pulse points" (i.e. behind your ears, on your wrists and in the hollows of your elbows) for a longer-lasting, stronger scent.
After applying, avoid rubbing or dabbing skin.
