"The philosophy of my brand is creativity, integrity and quality," says Terry de Gunzburg

Terry de Gunzburg is also described as Steve Jobs in the make-up industry. A comparison that amuses in the first moment and convinces in the second. Because anyone who has ever tried a "Touche Veloutée" concealer, a "Baume de Rose" balm or the "Lash Expert Twist-Brush" mascara also knows about the innovation and user-friendly handling. Not to mention the quality that inspires even professionals!

In the life of Terry de Gunzburg many things happened by chance. Born in Paris and raised in an environment of scientists and doctors, she began her medical studies - although she wanted to become an interior designer. While she was still changing subjects, she used the summer holidays for a 4-week make-up workshop at Maria Carita - then the most popular hairdressing salon in Paris. They sent you as a temp to a Vogue photo shoot. The beginning of her career. Terry made up what she liked herself: perfectly red lips, a radiant complexion, eyelashes and eyebrows accentuated - her signature look to this day. She did not return to university.

She later moved from Carita to Yves Saint Laurent's Beauté department as creative director, worked with legendary photographers such as Helmut Newton and Guy Bourdin and developed a very personal characteristic: "Nobody mixed products then, but I did. And I've always created and invented new products and textures for the brands I've worked for". They also became bestsellers: Their most famous product is undisputedly YSL's "Touche Éclat", which is based on their passion for foundation brushes rather than sponges.

Designer Yves Saint Laurent came up with the idea of a Haute-Coleurs line as a counterpart to Haute Couture. But it was Pierre Berger, Chairmann and marketing professional from YSL, who saw this idea as a perfect further development of Terry and supported it significantly until the brand launch. 3 years of product development, during which she continued to work for Yves Saint Laurent and developed collections and looks. "I wanted to create something ultimate, the best ingredients and pigments, the best service."

1998 was the year: By Terry was launched and Terry de Gunzburg left YSL after 15 years. Good timing, because Yves Saint Laurent also retired, the family team disbanded and Tom Ford took over the French couture label.

Terry's openness and enthusiasm for new technologies and colours made her a true visionary in the beauty industry. "I love science. And I love the idea of innovation. Behind every single product there is a huge quantity of science. But in the end it's all very glamorous and my wish is that every woman forgets the scientific side of it." Your brand has therefore become much more than a pure Haute-Coleur series. It is a mirror of Terry de Gunzburg's passion and preferences, such as roses. It is not only the scent of the flowers that makes her series so unmistakable, but also her active ingredients. The Lipbalm "Baume de Rose" is a cult product, but the constantly growing care line also has prominent users!

“The Baume de Rose really works. It's not the kind of lip care that actually dries out the lips." Katy Perry

“The Nutri-Pure Cleanser of Cellularose by by Terry is so gentle and I love the rose fragrance." Kim Kardashian

"Before going to bed, I put on the Cellularose Hydra-Eclat by Terry." Emily Ratajkovsky

For 20 years, "By Terry" has been convincing with its unique portfolio, which now consists of a team of over 75 employees. Every product is tested and checked by Terry herself - and only when she is really convinced and satisfied is it launched. A beauty line with the personal touch of a real make-up icon.

Terry de Gunzburg is the mother of four children and lives with her husband in South Kensington, London.
