Saint Charles Apothecary

Born out of a passion for reinterpreting old knowledge in a new way, pharmacist Alexander Ehrmann took over the historical pharmacy from 1886 in Vienna and founded the Saint Charles brand. Based on the teachings of traditional European medicine, the company relies on the healing power of nature and the local herbal world.

Saint Charles products are based on the holistic doctrine of teaching of Traditional European Medicine, which sees illness as a lost balance. The focus is not on one organ, but rather the entire body system. The science adapts knowledge and methods of different cultures and focuses on the healing potential of plants and herbs native to Europe.

Saint Charles products in the categories of natural cosmetics, aromatherapy and herbal medicine are often made from 100 percent natural raw materials in organic quality or wild-collected. Local partners are preferred in the selection of ingredients. Thus, the ingredients for the formulas are sourced from many small producers and growers in Austria and neighboring countries.

These three buzzwords describe the claim that the Saint Charles brand sets itself every day. Sustainability, the protection of the environment and fair business practices have been a concern for the pharmacy brand since its founding in Vienna in 2006.
